Last Thursday, the Redwood Christian Varsity Baseball team secured a significant win over St. Patrick/St. Vincent (Vallejo, CA) on their home field at San Leandro Ball Park. The highlight of the night: pitcher, Alex Williams, throwing a no hitter with 14 strikeouts. The final score was 5-0.
The Eagles are ranked in the top 10 of their section division according to www.maxpreps.com. Coach Jim Cleveland was recognized as the California Small Schools Coach of the Year after leading the Eagles to the North Coast Section Division 5 championship last season. Redwood Christian went 22-4 last year.
Due to their success for multiple seasons, this year, the Eagles were moved up from Division 5 to Division 4. St. Patrick/St. Vincent, also a Division 4 competitor, were the runners up in the North Coast Section championship game last year. Defeating the Bruins in this non-conference matchup shows great promise for the Eagles – both in confidence and in potential. The Eagles record is currently 6-4. In their next game, the Eagles will take on Lick-Wilmerding (SF), another potential section playoff contender, on Saturday, April 14 at 7 pm at San Leandro Ball Park.
