What is/are your role(s) at Redwood Christian Schools?

To oversee the marketing, including social media and communications at RCS.

What do you love about Redwood Christian Schools?

I love what a RCS education has to offer students and families.  Not only are students going to get an excellent education that will equip them for wherever God’s calling is for them after high school, but at RCS, students have the opportunity to build relationships with peers and mentors that will serve and impact their whole life.  The passion that each person at RCS brings in the various areas they serve really makes it the best place to work and the best place for kids to go to school.

What motivated you to serve at RCS?

God called me to RCS in a way I could not avoid.  I offered to “just help” coach, but one day a week turned into five which turned into a total career change.  I knew from the interactions I was having with athletes and teachers (as a coach) that RCS was the place I wanted to work and, then later, the place I wanted my own children to go to school.

What do you feel is the significance of your role at RCS?

Sharing the stories of RCS as an organization and the stories of individuals within RCS offers transparency about who we are to our communities and invites those who want to be a part of our community in.

What sets RCS students apart from students in other schools?

As a former coach and teacher, I can say with confidence that RCS students are the most reliable, responsible, and hardworking teenagers you will ever meet.  As an administrator, I have gotten the opportunity to interact more with elementary students as well, and I have seen so much joy in and the curiosity that they bring to their classrooms.  Both campuses are really fun places to be because of the students who make up our classrooms.

What is a unique experience, talent, or interest that you bring to shape the overall experience for students at RCS?

I could never have guessed how God would combine my training in marketing and my experience in teaching together for my current role at RCS.  My “math teacher brain” allows me to categorize and combine while my “marketing brain” allows me to strategize and create – both of which help to communicate aspects of our school effectively.

The RCS tagline is “the education you TRUST for the children you LOVE.” How do you accomplish this in your role at RCS?

Is there any love stronger than a parent’s love for a child?  God shows us this in the ways He loves us, and we, in turn, strive to love our children in similar fashion.  In telling the multifaceted stories of how RCS administrators serve on campuses and in the community, students’ learning experiences in RCS classrooms, RCS teachers impacting the lives of students, and perspectives from RCS families and alumni, I create transparency for people to see that we are a school that is who we say we are.

What do you want students to gain from having known you?

I hope students see that God is faithful and will use His people in ways we cannot even imagine (through the ways He has used me).  I also hope that I can be an encourager to students in all the various gifts and talents they can explore at RCS.

What is your favorite verse?

The entire book of Philippians reminds me to “press on” in faith because our prize and hope is in Jesus!  But I will choose 4:4-7 as my favorite: “Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice. Let your reasonableness be known to everyone. The Lord is at hand; do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”
