Devotional Thought:
Psalm 63:1 says, “O God, you are my God; earnestly I seek you; my soul thirsts for you; my flesh faints for you, as in a dry and weary land where there is no water.” This verse has strong descriptive words: earnestly, thirsts, and faints.
When I read these words, it communicates a desperation for God. It is a powerful thing to love the Lord with all that is within us. It’s a powerful thing to really seek Him earnestly, to thirst for Him, our body to faint for Him; to be desperate for Him. I’m reminded of Reepicheep, the talking Mouse from The Chronicles of Narnia. In The Voyage of the Dawn Treader, he exclaims, “While I can, I sail east in the Dawn Treader. When she fails me, I paddle east in my coracle.
When she sinks, I shall swim east with my four paws. And when I can swim no longer, if I have not reached Aslan’s country, or shot over the edge of the world into some vast cataract, I shall sink with my nose to the sunrise.” I love the image of this little mouse pursuing Aslan’s country with everything that is in him. No matter the obstacles, no matter the distractions, he is determined and unwavering. I desire to love and pursue Christ this way. My soul, everything that is within me, is His. Let my mind be set, let my entire being pursue Him in every way, with my eyes on His eternal Kingdom alone. This is my desire for each of us, that we may love Him with all of our being; that we may love Him
with all of our soul.”

“Fabulous Five” As Reported By RCS Teachers:
- Mrs. Conley reports: One of our centers is to do “Focus Moves” posters from S’cool Moves. This week they combined phonics practice and midline work. Click Here
- Mrs. Chiavini reports: Class K-1C demonstrated the impact of growth mindset. It was very uplifting to see my students apply what they have learned about growing in their mind-set. One of the students encouraged a classmate by saying “It is okay, do not be upset. mistakes help us improve, and this will take some time and effort.” Then he went on to say, “ Look at me. I am not crying anymore because mistakes help me improve and I do not give up trying.” Witnessing this precious learning moment brought so much joy to my heart.
- Mrs. Grunow reports: Watching 35 third graders learning about God’s creation and leading them on a walk at Lake Chabot.
- Miss Masin reports: The context: Making up sentences with words that begin with /h/. The comment: “My head is like a house. My brain lives inside.” Caleb Yip, kindergartner.
- Mr. Warner reports: One of our students, Zoe Tesfamichael, shared in chapel about the importance of being thankful for the little things in life (e.g.,each breath), and the need to be grateful for what we have; not focused on what we don’t have.
