On October 22, 2012, everyone from Founders to New Friends celebrated our forty-three years of ministry at our Annual Dinner. The evening was held at Willow Park Event Center in Castro Valley, and included a duet by Steven Ghant on his trumpet and Andrew Otteson on his trombone playing “Vivace” and Mr. Doug McClure playing a medley of inspirational pieces on his cello.

In addition to honoring the first recipients of the Lifetime Recognition Award (see separate article), we were blessed by the testimonies of parents, students and alumni, heard encouraging campus updates from Principals Mike Kady (Redwood Christian Elementary) and Al Hearne (Redwood Christian Middle School and High School), and a challenge from Superintendent Bruce Johnson to support the RCS ministry prayerfully and financially. The response before and after the dinner was very encouraging as so many of our supporters confirmed their commitment to continue to pray and financially support this home mission. Lifetime Recognition Awards Presented at Annual Dinner At Redwood Christian Schools 43rd Annual Dinner on October 22, the Board presented four Lifetime Recognition Awards (LRA) to individuals who have been active within the Redwood Christian Schools community for a minimum of two decades leaving their individual mark on the legacy of RCS. The award is restricted to non-school employees. Spouses are included in this award as we recognize that the time, talents and support come from both of them, and all too often, the spouse is omitted from recognition.

The 2012 recipients join the Classes of 2010 and 2011:
2010 – Founding RCS Board Members and their wives Bill and June Beckwith, Don and Pat Madsen, and Adolph and Martha Odegaard plus our Founding Pastor and his Bride Sherman and Ruth Williams, and long-time supporters Jim and Bobbie Knuppe.

2011 – Former RCS Board Members Mel and Doris Chinen, Elbert and Lorna Enns, and Roger and Sue Gaither plus Founders James and Joan Wade. Mrs. Wade was also on the school’s steering committee.  Redwood Christian Schools is blessed to have had and continue to have non-school employees who have been faithful in investing their gifts and talents to provide Redwood with a strong Biblical foundation and ongoing support, much of it on their knees. They continue to promote the ministry of Redwood Christian Schools as part of their daily lives, some for the entire forty-three years that Redwood has been ministering to families and to the boys and girls in our classrooms.
