Devotional Thought:

King David wrote Psalm 18 as thanksgiving praise because God had delivered him from his enemies. The Hebrew word that Kind David used for love refers to an intimacy with God that is based upon companionship. King David fully realized that he was in a close, intimate relationship with God. The only way for us to develop this same type of love
for God is to consciously and consistently enter into God’s presence, through Bible reading, prayer, and worship. By continually spending time with God, the level of intimacy we have with God will grow into a deeper and deeper relationship with Him. Only with this intimate relationship with God can we begin to become like God in our thoughts, words, and actions. We are human and God is God; we will never become God but within our humanity we can grow and mature to become more like God in our thinking, words, and actions. As we become more like God, we can truly go out into the world to live as a positive witness for God, bringing glory to Him.

A Special Message From Superintendent Hearne Regarding The RCS Bus Service

RCS is blessed to have dedicated bus drivers who are committed to student safety and  education. This year our bus drivers have noticed an increase of traffic which has made it difficult for the morning bus route to arrive at the MSHS on time. Student safety is one of our primary concerns and rather than rushing to get to the MSHS on time, our bus drivers have asked to move the pickup times for the morning route.

Based upon their calculations, beginning on January 3, 2017, we will be moving the pickup time back by 10 minutes. The RCS bus will leave Redwood Chapel at 7:10am and the 3 Crosses bus at 7:20.

In Christ,
Al Hearne II, M.Div, M. Ed.

“Fabulous Five” As Reported By RCS Teachers:

  1. Mrs. Sommers reports: This week third graders learned some new math vocabulary words when multiplying: commutative property, associative property, multiplicative property of one, and multiplicative property of zero.
  2. Mr. Hendren reported: AP European History had a great discussion regarding the French revolution compared to the contemporary “Arab Spring” revolutions, demonstrating an understanding of how all revolutions go through similar cycles.
  3. Mr. Summers reported: My international Bible students, who generally do not believe in Christ, recently interviewed members of the Christian Ministry team about their faith. It turned out to be a very positive activity, and I believe that God used it to plant some new ideas in their minds.
  4. Mrs. Grunow reported: A first grade AAP student shared how a classmate did not want to do handwriting practice and had to miss recess. He then said “I do not like to do it either but I know that I will get better if I keep practicing.” This is the RCE Growth Mindset working.
  5. Mr. Enos reported: Students demonstrated a Growth Mindset in math despite the level of difficulty in the material this week (word problems involving fractions).

Matthew 6:9-13 – The Lord’s Prayer
“9 Pray then like this: “Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name. 10 Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. 11 Give us this day our daily bread, 12 and forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. 13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.”
