Mr. Hearne’s Recommended Resources:
Living in the 21st century is truly amazing, we know more today about how the human brain works than ever before. God has allowed us to learn so much about how people process information, how they think, and how they respond. One of the major advances regarding the brain and education involves executive skills (or functions), the mental skills that are used to accomplish things in life. We used to think that intelligence was fixed and have learned that this is wrong. We now know that everyone can improve his or her brain function by working on improving executive skills. My first recommended resource is “Executive Function Overview” to help you gain a better understanding. The second is “Improving Executive Skills,” which contains nine tips you can use to help your child develop his or her executive skills. As always, the third recommended resource is the “Axis Cultural Translator” to help you stay current with American culture.

Fabulous Learning

All American Week = Awesome: “I loved to see kids who were
not expecting to win all American take home prizes.” “6th
Grade brought amazing energy.” “Creative dress and
participation was awesome.” – Various MS Teachers

Thanksgiving Mathematical Feast! It took combined math skills
to divide, multiply, work with decimals, and subtract time in
order to plan, purchase, and prep all the fixings for their
fantastic day. The fifth graders even dove into the nutritional
facts of their fancy feast. – Mrs. Wilson

Future Theologians: Students did an amazing job on a group
project in which they effectively communicated the worldview
of Darwinism and then critiqued it from a Christian worldview. –
Mr. Summers

It’s Magnetic! In 3V, the students went around to see what is
attracted to a magnet by making two categories of magnetic
and not magnetic. They did such a great job being scientists. –
Mrs. Vanegas CLICK HERE

4th Grade STEM: Students continue to participate in science
and engineering activities. Last week, students planned,
observed, analyzed, and interpreted data as they investigated
how to light two lightbulbs brightly with only one D-Cell battery.
