RCHS Spanish Classes Mission Trip
Puerto Rico Missions Trip
May 28, 2020 – June 5, 2020
On September 20, 2017, Hurricane Maria struck Puerto Rico, devastating the island and leaving it in a humanitarian crisis. A year after the storm thousands are still recovering from the destruction and trauma of the hurricane. Some homes still have tarps instead of roofs.
This will be the second-annual RCHS Spanish class mission trip. RCHS Spanish class students who choose to go on the trip, led by Spanish teacher, Mrs. Sanchez, will share the love of Christ and the Gospel in Puerto Rico. Working alongside Forward Edge Ministries, RCHS students will help rebuild homes for widows, seniors, single moms and low-income families living in rural-interior of the island. These families need hope and your child can provide it in Puerto Rico.
In addition, it is crucial that our students understand the world around them. This opportunity will allow them to bring a global perspective into their own communities. One of the most valuable lessons students can learn is how to understand and appreciate perspectives others than their own. Moreover, they get take the Spanish grammar and vocabulary they have learned in the classroom and use their skills to impact a Spanish-speaking community.
