At the recent Association of Christian Schools International Northern California Musicale, the Concert Choir from Redwood Christian High School earned a Command Performance for their performance of “Ndikhokhele Bawo,” an isiXhosa Folk Song arr. by Michael Ryan.  The choral competition was held at William Jessup University in Rocklin, California.  Eight Christian Schools from throughout Northern California participated in the two-day event and were adjudicated by Dr. Tom Ruscica, Associate Dean, Visual & Performing Arts at William Jessup University.  Concert Choir Director Rachel Fong was very proud of her students stating “Our students took a very difficult isiXhosa Folk Song.  What makes this Nguni Bantu language from South Africa so difficult is the use of ‘click consonants.’  Our students worked hard learning how to properly pronounce the words and their hard work was rewarded.  I am so proud of them, individually and as our choir!”
