Week 2: Beginning Chess Camp
Grades: Entering 1st – 3rd Grade

Coach Jolly Chen is an experienced chess instructor who has taught chess to children of all ages. He has taught classes and chess camps with the Berkeley Chess School, Hayward Area Recreation and Park District (HARD), City of Dublin, homeschool groups, and church groups. In high school, Coach Chen was a nationally ranked player for his age. He still actively plays online at chess.com where his blitz rating places him in the 97th percentile of over a million players.
What to Expect from this Camp
REC invites beginning chess players to learn the fun and strategic game of Chess! This camp is designed for first-timers. Campers will learn the basics of the game of chess, starting with how each piece moves, and then on to playing games with other campers.
