Meet Mr. Brandan Hearne!
That’s right, there’s a new “Mr. Hearne” on campus! You may have seen Mr. Brandan Hearne, brother of Dr. Hearne, RCS Superintendent, serving at RCE last year. After some time outside of the classroom, he is returning to teach at math RCMS!
How did God call you into teaching?
I attended Bethany College and earned a B.A. in Social Sciences with an emphasis in Teaching. I volunteered at a small, private Christian School and have substitute taught in public and private schools.
What motivated you to transition back to the classroom and teach at RCS?
I had the opportunity to serve at Redwood Christian Elementary last school year. A week, turned into a month, turned into an entire school year! Being around the kids and a Christ-centered environment helped reignite my passion for teaching.
I have a wonderful wife, Vanessa, a vibrant five-year-old Daughter, River, and the newest addition a five-month-old son, Alexander. Vanessa is very happy that I have been given the opportunity to “switch gears” and get back into teaching. River is very much looking forward to attending TK in Mrs. Shinoda’s class at RCE.
Do you have any other hobbies/interests outside of teaching?
I am an avid Baseball Fan (Go A’s!!!!). I had season tickets until my daughter was born.
What’s it like starting teaching at RCS during COVID/Virtual Education?
Ha ha. I have learned a new use for the term “Pivot” and had to utilize it far more often than I originally thought.
What’s it like having your brother as a boss?
Honestly it’s great. We’ve always got along and over the years I have learned so much from Al. I feel like he gives the freedom to do what needs to be done, and he can also be a resource for ideas.
