What is/are your role(s) at Redwood Christian Schools?

I teach 10th grade Bible, 12th grade Government, and 12th grade Speech.

What do you love about Redwood Christian Schools?

I love working with an incredible group of teachers who use their gifts and talents in working with our students. We have a great cross section of new and veteran teachers who learn from each other.

Why do you like teaching at RCS?

I was on my way to becoming a police officer, while working as a part-time youth worker at 3 Crosses Church. Former Elementary principal, Mr. Monk, mentioned to me about the possibility of teaching instead of police work.  After much prayer with my wife, I decided the Lord was calling me into the teaching field.

What is a unique experience, talent or interest that you bring to shape the overall experience of students at RCS?

I have been teaching at RCS for over 40 years, and each time I walk into my classroom, it’s a new experience because each student creates a new experience for me and the class.  I am also a Vietnam veteran (Army) who worked as an air traffic controller, and I bring this experience into the classroom as well.

What sets RCS students apart from students in other schools?

They truly care for each other. I see examples of this almost every day.

The RCS tagline is “the education you TRUST for the children you LOVE.” How do you accomplish this in your role at RCS?

My own children completed their high school education RCS, and I can see their teachers’ lives in their own lives and in the choices they have made.

What do you want students to gain from having known you?

My passion for knowing and loving our Lord.

What is your favorite verse?

Colossians 3:23-24 ESV  “Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward. You are serving the Lord Christ.”
