What is/are your role(s) at Redwood Christian Schools?
I teach 11th grade AP United States History and work with TK-12 faculty on curriculum design and development, classroom instruction, professional development, and our standardized testing program.
What do you love about Redwood Christian Schools?
The Bible is the foundation of the school’s Philosophy and Instructional Program. This is the most critical reason I am committed to RCS. If any educational model attempts to teach a person without the basis of truth found within the pages of Scripture, it is an empty venture.
What motivated you to serve at Redwood Christian?
I am motivated to serve at RCS solely out of a desire to please Jesus with my life.
What do you feel is the significance of your role at RCS?
My role only holds significance if it is carried out with God’s intentions and leading. Without that, it means very little. One of my major goals is to let teachers know how much they are needed, respected, supported, and valued. Without them, RCS doesn’t function. For my AP U.S. History students, I want them to understand the sovereignty of God in our nation’s past, present, and future, and the critical role that they play in God’s design for His creation.
What is a unique experience, talent or interest that you bring to shape the overall experience of students at RCS?
A passion for Jesus Christ and for serving our teachers and students is what I have to offer. God’s grace in giving me a working mind, and a keen sense of curriculum implementation and strategies has helped too.
What sets RCS students apart from students in other schools?
RCS students have the most incredible opportunity to know Jesus now, while they are young, and to develop a full relationship with the God of the Universe through what they learn in school. They have been blessed beyond measure to have this kind of opportunity.
The RCS tagline is “the education you TRUST for the children you LOVE.” How do you accomplish this in your role at RCS?
Parents trust RCS to know how to best instruct students. My role is to understanding the best and most innovative strategies, techniques, and methods to help students master course curriculum and to help teachers implement these practices in their classrooms.
What do you want students to gain from having known you?
I want students to ultimately know the personal saving grace and power of Jesus Christ. And I want them to know that I care about their lives and am working very hard to give them the absolute best learning experience available.
What is your favorite verse?
Joshua 1:9 ESV “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go.”
