What is/are your role(s) at Redwood Christian Schools?
I teach Middle School Art and High School Art.
What do you love about Redwood Christian Schools?
Redwood Christian Schools is a family oriented education establishment that emphasizes a personal relationship with God, our Creator.
Why do you like teaching at RCS?
I have the ability to teach freely about creation of Art. This allows me to teach about the creative abilities of God our Creator and how we should worship Him in our works of Art.
God opened a door that I wasn’t looking to open for this position. I was self-employed; while I was at a testing of our son and daughter to enter RCS, the opportunity to teach was presented. Having a credential in Art helped. That was twenty-one years ago.
What is a unique experience, talent or interest that you bring to shape the overall experience of students at RCS?
I have used my Art education including a background in sculpture, jewelry, and business to start and own a dental laboratory. I was also able to help develop a device that allowed quadriplegic patients the ability to control their environments.
What sets RCS students apart from students in other schools?
Our students are able to learn in a peaceful, caring environment as opposed to the chaotic learning environment that I have observed in public schools.
The RCS tagline is “the education you TRUST for the children you LOVE.” How do you accomplish this in your role at RCS?
I attempt to impart knowledge to students as if they were my own children. We trusted our children to the education of RCS teachers and staff.
What do you want students to gain from having known you?
In addition to understanding more about God as our Creator, I desire that my students will leave my classroom with an understanding of how Art works are created. Most will never develop into professional artists, however, they will have the opportunity to be better educated consumers in the future.
What is your favorite verse?
Psalm 27:14 “Wait for the Lord; be strong, and let your heart take courage; wait for the Lord!”
