What is/are your role(s) at Redwood Christian Schools?

I teach 1st grade.

What do you love about Redwood Christian Schools?

I love the fact that we truly love children and want to give them a wonderful Christ-centered education.

Why do you like teaching at RCS?

I like teaching at Redwood Christian Schools because I can freely proclaim Christ to my students. I can show my students that God is the source of all truth and that He loves us so much that He sent his Son to die a horrible death on a cross because of His tremendous love for us.

What is a unique experience, talent or interest that you bring to shape the overall experience of students at RCS?

I love teaching children how to read. Therefore, I am always looking for ways to not only encourage students to read, but to make it exciting for them as well. Having participated for years with my therapy dog, Milano, in the Paws to Read Program at the Castro Valley Library, I was anxious to see if I could bring this program in a smaller form to my school. With the support of my administration, I was able to take this idea of reading to therapy dogs to our Summer EDC Program this past summer. The children were so excited to be able to read to the dogs!

What sets RCS students apart from students in other schools?

Our students know that God loves them and wants to be a part of every area of their lives. Because God is always faithful, they know that they can completely trust Him. Our students also know that Jesus wants them to put others before themselves, which stands in complete contrast to the world’s philosophy.

The RCS tagline is “the education you TRUST for the children you LOVE.” How do you accomplish this in your role at RCS?

When you truly love the students that God has placed in your care, you will want to do everything possible to help them reach their highest potential and to know Jesus as their Lord and Savior.

What do you want students to gain from having known you?

I want them to know that God loves them so much not because of who they are, but because of who He is.

What is your favorite verse?

Romans 8:38-39 “For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
