What is your role at Redwood Christian Schools?

I am the Director of our Home School program (PSP) and I also teach middle school classes.

What do you love about Redwood Christian Schools?

I love that Redwood is a family. We all work together well and complement each other. When you are hurting or in need of help you can count on anyone of the staff/teachers/admin to talk to you and pray with you. We all love what we do and most of all we love the Lord.

What motivated you to serve at Redwood Christian?

I really wanted to work at a Christ- centered school. Many of my cousins and friends at church were fortunate to go to school at Redwood. I grew up in a public school, but longed to have my children go to a Christian School.

What do you feel is the significance of your role at RCS?

I feel that you have to be called to the middle school age. Many people do not have the patience for middle school students. I have my days, but after about 24 years in 6th grade and 7th grade I would not want to teach at another level. This age was hard for me and I feel I can send the hope and encouragement that I needed at this age.  As far as homeschooling goes, I have taught 2nd grade on up to 9th grade. I have taught at both campuses and I feel I know what goes on at each level.

What is a unique experience, talent or interest that you bring to shape the overall experience of students at RCS?

Being somewhat of a struggling student socially and academically through my younger years, I feel I can bring that understanding to others going through what I went through.

What sets RCS students apart from students in other schools?

The students at RCS really care for other students. They are concerned when they are absent or have been gone even for a day. The kids can talk about God without fear of being put down for their faith.

The RCS tagline is “the education you TRUST for the children you LOVE.” How do you accomplish this in your role at RCS?

I make sure I treat each student how I would like my boys to be treated by a teacher. I try to give the best possible education I can give. Each child is a gift from God and I try to treat each of my students like one.

What do you want students to gain from having known you?

I would like the students first of all to know that God loves them so much. Secondly, that I care for them and want them to succeed. I would also want them to know that God and I are always there for them.

What is your favorite verse?

Philippians 4:13 “I can do all things through him who strengthens me.”
