On Monday, January 29, more than 1,000 people filled the Redwood Elementary campus for a night of open house and academic demonstration. One could feel the strong community of parents, faculty, administration, students, and friends; there was a strong buzz of energy as everyone came together in one place for this grand event.
The evening began with an opening session led by RCS Superintendent, Al Hearne. He praised the tremendous efforts and hard work of the students and shared the vision of the future of RCS. It was a great opportunity for parents to hear from the RCS leadership. Attendee Michael shares that he enjoyed most: “hearing about the vision and future of the school.” Jessica shares that Explore RCS was a great opportunity to “be able to learn of where the school is headed.”
Parents were then dismissed to “explore.” Elementary demonstrations began in classrooms, the Middle School Science Fair opened, ACSI speeches were presented, High School Science demonstrations went live, and Fine Arts performances began. The night was filled with activity as students took turns demonstrating the best or favorite examples of their learning so far this year. The evening ended with an “open house” for all three campuses in which elementary classrooms were open to explore and both middle and high school students showcased projects and experiences in various areas.
The highlights of the night are best described by parents who were in attendance. Ralph shares that he enjoyed “seeing students in action.” Explore RCS was a tremendous opportunity for the students as well. Heather liked “watching the kids learn to interact with many different people.” Lisa appreciates “how excited my daughter was to answer questions about her reports.”
Explore RCS opened the doors to our school for parents and prospective parents. Thanks to the hard work of our teachers and students, we are confident that from this evening we will see a strong re-enrollment and many new families joining Redwood Christian Schools.
