Bay Area Private Elementary School Donates to Charity
At the end of their weekly chapel, the students at Redwood Christian Elementary School were invited to come forward with food that they brought from home for Ruby’s Place, recently relocated to Castro Valley. The chapel speaker was RCS Superintendent Emeritus Bruce D. Johnson, who sent an email to parents earlier in the week sharing the need for food at Ruby’s Place. The mission of Ruby’s Place is to “provide prevention and supportive services to the community and people impacted by domestic violence or human trafficking.” Students from Redwood Christian High School have been serving these families for years at the Rotary Club of Castro Valley’s Children’s Christmas Party. The students (and their parents!) responded by bringing ten grocery bags full of food! Principal Dale Huemoeller knew what to expect, stating “Redwood Christian Elementary has a great community of families. They respond enthusiastically when asked to lend a helping hand and consider it a privilege to help those who need it.” The Rotary Club of Castro Valley also collects food weekly for Ruby’s Place.
