2019-20 Middle School Student Citizen of the Year: Jonathan Murray

The RCS Middle School Student Citizen of the Year is Jonathan Murray. The Middle School Student Citizen is awarded to an 8th grade student who shows leadership and ethics, excellent communication skills, problem solving and conflict management abilities, and community and global citizenship.
At RCS, Jonathan has shown leadership in athletics, playing both soccer and basketball, and he was voted “Most Inspirational” in both sports, He is also active in the RCS Band, having played the drums and received honorable recognition. On campus, Jonathan has also been a student leader. He is exemplary of how to treat his classmates and teachers, and a go-to for the middle school campus when a leader or ambassador is needed on campus.
Outside of school, Jonathan has done Karate for the last four years and has earned his way to earn a Red belt and serve as a junior instructor. He has been a part of the Young Marines for the last four years and is currently a Sergeant. He is a member of the Kappa League, a mentorship program by Kappa Alpha Psi. He is also a member of the Young Eagles, an educational program designed to give youth participants experience in aviation. Finally, Jonathan is a member of church choir. He participated in the 3 crosses Vertical Choir for three years and the youth choir at Faith Fellowship church for five years.
Jonathan has received the Presidential Volunteer award for two years now providing over 100 hours of volunteering each year. The Redwood Christian Schools administration, faculty, and board are so proud of Jonathan’s leadership, respect, hard work and a positive attitude in so many ways. Congratualations!
