Varsity Girls Volleyball Upsets 7th Seed

In four sets, the Varsity Girls Volleyball team upset the higher ranked International High School (SF) in the First Round of the NCS/Les Schwab Tires Girls Volleyball Championships.  RCS dominated the first two sets, winning 25 to 16 and 25 to 14, respectively. The Jaguars showed their tenacity, topping the Eagles in the third set 26 to 24. The Eagles secured the match in set four with a 25 to 21 win.

Aliyah Afoa was selected the “Player of the Match” by MaxPreps with 19 kills and 24 digs. Also leading the Eagles was Lita Bruno with 16 kills and three blocks.  Olivia Clausen notably earned a 100% serve percentage on 21 serves. In addition, leading the backcourt was Tarez Azraei with 20 serve receptions and 25 digs in the match.

The Eagles advance to the quarterfinals where they take on the No. 2 Cubs at Convent of the Sacred Heart (San Francisco) on Saturday, October 27 at 7:00 pm.
