RCHS Varsity Basketball Competes Over Christmas Break

The Girls Varsity Basketball team participated in the 18th Annual West Coast Jamboree December 28-30th, competing against teams from all over California.  Teams from near and far travel to the Bay Area to participate in the West Coast Jamboree.  This year even a team as far as Artesia in Southern California joined the competition.  The Lady Eagles were challenged and grew tremendously from their experience.  Coach McGrath shares, “Our girls hustled and had some good exposure against teams we would not normally see!”  A tournament highlight includes Senior Ify Nwebube being selected as an All-Tournament Player for her outstanding performance throughout the tournament.

The Boys Varsity Basketball team also competed over the break.  The team traveled to Salinas to compete in the Steinbach Classic Basketball Tournament and finished with a 1-2 record.  Standing out for the Eagles was Senior Adam Phillips who scored 28 points against Alvarez including seven 3-pointers.  Phillips was named as an All-Tournament player for his play over the 3-day tournament.
