RCHS Students Help Prepare for 2022 CV Rotary Christmas Party

By: Bruce D. Johnson, Superintendent Emeritus

Castro Valley Rotary’s Children’s Christmas Party is coming soon and in preparation for the party for kids from local shelters (abused, trafficked and homeless) packages were donated by people to the Castro Valley California Highway Patrol (CHP) (and coordinated by CV Rotarian Ceta Dochterman) and picked up and labeled the packages then off to Redwood Christian High School (RCHS) for their students, led by Assistant Principal Evan Barnhart, to wrap and reapply labels to the packages.  Sixty packages were wrapped and are ready to go along with thirty stuffed animals to be sure the children receiving the gifts know that they have not been forgotten this Christmas season.

This service opportunity will be completed successfully due to the combination of The Rotary Club of Castro Valley, the Castro Valley California High Patrol Office (special thanks to Officers Dan Jacowitz and Tom Gowin) combining their gifts and talents to serve others in our community.  Many of the students will assist with the upcoming Children’s Christmas Party with face painting, balloon animals, coloring and playing games with the guests, in anticipation of Santa’s arrival aboard an Alameda County Fired Department’s Fire Engine (seems Santa’s Sleigh breaks down every year!).  Everyone present at the Party will also be served a wonderful Christmas dinner of ham with all the fixings plus mac and cheese for the kids if they choose!

RCHS Students who helped wrap sixty packages for the upcoming CV Rotary Club’s Children’s Christmas Party and Middle School and High School Assistant Principal Evan Barnhart (far left), and CV Rotarian Bruce D. Johnson (and Redwood Christian Schools Superintendent Emeritus) far right.
