RCHS Students Go Above #WalkUpNotOut

On March 14, 2018, as students across the nation wrestled with whether to “walk out,” “walk up,” or do nothing, RCHS students gathered for chapel in the Multi Purpose Room (MPR) to seek guidance higher than any hashtag.  Led by four seniors, Ben Stirling, Kelly Tang, Kimberly Najarian, and Andrew Stanciulescu, our students prayed for God’s protection for students across the nation and for wisdom to be instilled in the hearts of our elected representatives as they work to address school safety for the entire nation.

Mr. Castaneda, MSHS Assistant Principal, then shared a short message reminding students of God’s commands in 2 Chronicles 7:14 ESV, “If my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land.”

Administrators, faculty, and staff are proactive in their efforts to provide a safe, secure, loving environment at Redwood.  Mr. Warner, MSHS Principal, emailed middle and high school parents yesterday afternoon to ask them to partner with our school in prayer in preparation for today’s chapel message.  He assures that it is a high priority for Redwood Christian Schools to provide students the opportunity to learn in an atmosphere free of dangerous intrusions. Furthermore, RCS is actively involved in the national discussion regarding how to keep our schools safe.  As a Christian school, we believe the one element missing from the national discussion is that God is on the throne and that we should first turn to Him and ask that He keep our schools safe.

We ask our Redwood Christian Schools community to stand in unity, and to regularly pray with and for our students. We will continue to pray for our schools to be protected, for forgiveness, and for healing.
