RCE Celebrates Read Across America Week

Last week, Redwood Christian Elementary celebrated Read Across America week by reading the same book in all grades, TK-5, in order to inspire cross-grade level conversations.
TK-5th Grade celebrated Read Across America week by reading the same book across all grade levels each day last week to foster a love of reading in the young students. The books read are heart warming, relatable, and silly, but they all have and underlying lesson. Classes discussed:
-When you give something to someone, do you expect something in return?
-What do you think it means to be “cool”?
-What is a new or different food you have tried?
Students were also encouraged to dress up with different themes matching the book of the day. Monday students wore the color green as they read The Giving Tree. Tuesday students brought sunglasses to school and read The Cool Bean. Wednesday they brought stuffed animals to school and read the Elephant and Piggie book I Really Like Slop!
