College:  Bachelor of Music in Music Education from San Jose State University

What is/are your role(s) at Redwood Christian Schools?

I teach elementary Band/Strings, MSHS Choir + Band, and I am a 9th grade advisor.

What do you love about Redwood Christian Schools?

I love having the privilege and opportunity to teach in a Christian setting. Here I get to not only help students grow in their love for music but hopefully encourage them to use their love and gift to serve God by giving back to the community, and/or serve at their respective churches.

Why do you like teaching at RCS?

There is a family here. There is always a group students can be a part of and not be left out.

What is a unique experience, talent or interest that you bring to shape the overall experience of students at RCS?

I have a strong desire to be in a choral program and bring that experience to the classroom. Many students today think singing is just the pop way of singing. But bringing to them the choral experience presents a different side of music where students learn to work together as one group.

What sets RCS students apart from students in other schools?

For the most part, students treat each other like family. Though they may be very talkative or unfocused, at the end, I love seeing students include each other with whatever they are doing.

The RCS tagline is “the education you TRUST for the children you LOVE.” How do you accomplish this in your role at RCS?

I make sure to treat the student with respect and love, but also with discipline when needed. I make sure that the students understand what I am teaching and I teach them how they can apply it on their own.

What do you want students to gain from having known you?

I want them to know that learning is fun and that every day is a learning experience. Never give up on learning because one day God may use you to glorify Him with that talent.

What is your favorite verse?

Psalm 27:1-3 “The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear?  The Lord is the stronghold of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?  When evildoers assail me to eat up my flesh, my adversaries and foes, it is they who stumble and fall. Though an army encamp against me, my heart shall not fear; though war arise against me, yet I will be confident.”
