Devotional Thought:
Matt. 7:12: “So whatever you wish that others would do to you, do also to them. For this is the Law and the Prophets.” Jesus spoke these words to His disciples. The one thing that strikes me as I read this verse and Matt. 22:39 (“…You shall love your neighbor as yourself) is the need to take our eyes off ourselves and place them directly on those around us. It is a difficult thing to put others’ needs ahead of ours when we can’t see past our own world. Jesus, of course, gave us the ultimate example of looking past His needs to make sure all people had what they needed for eternal life. Paying closer attention to others’ needs is not an easy thing; like most things, it takes practice. I’d like to encourage all of you to join me and begin practicing now.
