Mrs. Beck to Serve as Athletic Secretary and Elementary PE Teacher
RCS Bay Area Private School Welcomes New Elementary PE Teacher
What attracted you to serve in an additional role in the Athletic Department?
There was a hole that needed to be filled and I felt the calling to step back into teaching PE. I love the idea of teaching young children the skills of and the sports that I love. It is such a joy to watch a young student figure something out for the first time.
Tell us about your family and how they are looking forward to this new opportunity.
I have been married for 14 years to Brian, and we have two fabulous children: Austin (8 ½) and Madison (6). Brian is very supportive, and both of my children are excited that I might actually be their PE teacher. We will see how they really like their mom when she is their teacher!
How did God call you into teaching and what are your professional credentials?
God opened a door for me to add some change in my life. I also continually reflect on the verse that was given to me as a student when I received my Bible at Redwood Elementary. It was Matthew 19:14, which says, “Let the little children come to me and do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of Heaven.” I have always felt a calling to work with children. In addition, I have a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Sports Sciences with a Minor in Business from the University of the Pacific in Stockton.
What have been your experiences in Christian education prior?
I have three years of experience teaching K-3 PE at Redwood Christian Elementary, and I have worked in the athletic department for 9 years.
Why do you think a Christian education is important for families to consider?
I believe that Christian education is important. As Christian parents, we are teaching our children the importance of walking with Christ, and we then take them to church to extend those teachings. It is vitally important to send them to a school that will also follow those same values so that the home, church, and school are in unity in the development of our children.
What do you love the most about RCS so far?
I love the feeling of community that is here at RCS. It really feels like a family.
How do you hope to make a difference in the lives of RCS students?
I hope to create an excitement for the sports that I love in these young children!
