What is/are your role(s) at Redwood Christian Schools?
I teach English I (9th grade) and English IV (12th grade).
What do you love about Redwood Christian Schools?
I love the family environment that is felt on the campus. I love the students; they are not perfect, but they are so easy to love, talk with and just hang out with.
Why do you like teaching at RCS?
After teaching in the public educational system for a while, I still love teaching English and I can now share the love of Jesus within my subject.
What is a unique experience, talent or interest that you bring to shape the overall experience of students at RCS?
I have a passion for English, but I love to laugh, share my love of Kansas, and mesh students together to create an inviting classroom.
What sets RCS students apart from students in other schools?
The Lord has brought RCS students together specifically here, and it is a privilege to teach them.
The RCS tagline is “the education you TRUST for the children you LOVE.” How do you accomplish this in your role at RCS?
By respecting each student as an individual. I work with students’ individual learning styles so that all students have an opportunity to learn. I also prepare my students to help others who may not have understood.
What do you want students to gain from having known you?
I want students to know that as children of God they are worthy of being listened to, they have the ability to be challenged, and they can be creative with writing and analysis. I want students to enjoy reading and writing in a multitude of ways and to develop the ability to communicate to others as well.
What is your favorite verse?
1 Peter 1:3-4 ESV “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! According to his great mercy, he has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, to an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading, kept in heaven for you…”
