The King Family
Investing in Spiritual Development & Academics for Their Boys
One of the RCS goals to #CelebrateRCS during our 50th anniversary is to connect with current RCS Parents and see what God has been doing in their family’s life. Dr. Hearne recently interviewed Mr. and Mrs. King. As part of the interview, Dr. Hearne asked Mr. and Mrs. King to share their thoughts on this month’s theme verse, Psalms 40:3, “He put a new song in my mouth, a song of praise to our God. Many will see and fear, and put their trust in the Lord.”
Mr. and Mrs. King shared, “It’s truly amazing and awesome that the Lord Himself affects such a marvelous change in all of us as we open ourselves up to His limitless, perfect, and unconditional love! While our God reigns on high, He sees us even in the midst of the darkest circumstances, hearing the cry of our voices, and He breaks through! He not only changes the songs our hearts sing and our lives echo, but He actually places a unique tune, a song of high praise, that resounds on the earth and in the heavens, in us! Those who have not yet embraced His love will not help but turn their attention to the Person we so gloriously honor, serve, and love. We cannot stop singing His song! Those around us truly need to hear it!”
Tell us about your family and something you like to do together.
Mr. and Mrs. King: We’ve been married going on 22 years now. We have been blessed with three incredible sons, Seth, Evan, and Ethan. Seth graduated from RCS in 2017 and is now a junior in college. Evan graduated in 2019 and is in the middle of his first year of college. Ethan is currently a sophomore, enjoying life as part of the class of 2022.
With three boys comes times of playful competition! We’ve always enjoyed sitting together and playing games–board games as well as family video games. Even when we take vacations where we’d visit friends and family, we’d be tasked with bringing games along. Sitting together, laughing…and trying to win has always been a great way for us to connect and enjoy one another.
Why did you choose Redwood Christian Schools?
Mr. and Mrs. King: We considered several options for the boys. We chose RCS because the school teaches from a Biblical worldview that lines up with our beliefs. It was an easy decision to invest in our children’s spiritual growth and academic development. The school exhibits excellence in both areas.
What do you love the most about RCS?
Mr. and Mrs. King: Everyone there–teachers, staff, and administrators–loves the Lord! They have each invested, without any hesitation and without fail, in our sons. Each one has and continues to demonstrate love, care, and kindness towards our entire family.
We’ve also been blessed to become a part of the lives of so many other families that have and have had children enrolled in addition to the families of those on the staff. These relationships extend far beyond the school grounds and will last throughout eternity. We are so grateful to be a part of the RCS family!
How has RCS helped your child(ren) to grow/develop academically, socially, and/or spiritually?
Mr. and Mrs. King: Beyond the materials and lessons learned in each class, with the emphasis on Christian character and values, our sons have each been equipped to live lives that make an impact for the Kingdom of God and to reach their God-ordained potential.
What makes Redwood Christian Schools Unique?
Mr. and Mrs. King: What makes RCS stand out is that it values each individual student, and it is committed to helping each student fulfill her/his God-given purpose. RCS makes a great effort in developing students as disciples of Christ, ready to make an impact on this world.
