Crossover Youth Basketball 2021-2022 Season
Thank you for your interest in Crossover Basketball.
Registration will close effective 5pm on Friday, September 17, 2021.
2021-22 Season
There are vastly different perspectives to the implementation of health protocols especially as it relates to individual vaccination status as well as the age of the participant.
As of May 28, 2021, CDC guidance advises mask wearing during competition and practices and masked spectators to maintain 6 ft physical distancing.
Crossover basketball aligns with RCS sports protocols from the California Interscholastic Federation, which also currently require masks of players and spectators. In addition, a health screener will be required before each practice and game.
All registrants will be expected to adhere to these protocols until they are revised or removed. If and when these protocols change, Crossover will change accordingly. In the event that restrictions are increased after registration but before the season begins, a full refund will be offered to those who no longer want to participate.

For those who missed today’s pick-up, please stop by the Castro Valley First Baptist Church office located at 18550 Redwood Road (corner of Redwood and Seven Hills).
Office Hours are
Mon-Thurs. 9am to 4pm
Fridays 9am to noon
510-582-0515
Please be prepared with your player’s name, division and team color for faster pick-up.
The value of the slingbag was “topped-off” as we have decided to NOT offer a percentage discount towards next year’s registration fees. This was partly due to the fact that several families were not going to be returning as well as this ultimately simplifies our financial books for this and next season. However, your player will be automatically “pre-registered” and given the opportunity to save his/her spot with next season’s payment. More details will be forthcoming.
We pray that we will be able to have a season next year. Please visit www.rcs.edu/crossover for updates. Stay healthy and safe!
Update January 20, 2022
Dear Crossover Families –
Thank you for your continued understanding and support of our recent cancellations. Our leadership team is committed to the safety of our players/families during this unprecedented time. We continue to pray for you and your families to stay healthy and safe this winter.
While the COVID numbers seem to have improved this past week, there are still record numbers of infections and hospitalizations locally. Through my context at Redwood Christian Schools, I have heard of the incredible stress caused by having to stay at home for days/weeks due to child/parent sicknesses. It was one of our priorities for Crossover to not add to such a burden by exposing our players unnecessarily.
With prayer and thought, we have decided to CANCEL the rest of the season (both January 22 & 29 camps). I realize this causes much disappointment in players and families but our foremost concern is still the health and welfare of our families and children. While this decision is bittersweet to announce, we are confident this is the correct one to make.
To compensate families of these cancellations, we will be giving all players from this season an AUTOMATIC registration for next year and include a percentage discount off of the registration fee. More details about this will come later.
PLEASE NOTE:
There will be a “drive-thru” pick-up on January 29 during the first hour of your camp time slot: 9-10a (2/3), 11:30a-12:30p (4/5), 2:30-3:30p (6/7/8). Each player will be given a Crossover Slingbag containing a Crossover t-shirt, “Good For One” coupons to Ice Creamery, Pizza Express and Chabot Theatre plus a few other treats and giveaways.
We pray that we will be able to have a season next year. Please visit www.rcs.edu/crossover for updates. Stay healthy and safe!
Update January 12, 2022
Dear Crossover Families –
The CROSSOVER Leadership Team continues to pray for you and your families during this pandemic.
Unfortunately, the COVID situation has not improved so I have decided to CANCEL this Saturday’s (January 15) camp. I realize this causes much disappointment in players and families but our foremost concern is again the health and welfare of our families and children.
(Additional cancelations may be necessary and will be decided on a week-to-week basis).
NOTE – The season-end celebration scheduled for Feb. 5 has also been canceled to avoid the “large” gathering event. Plans are underway to have an alternate (but division-specific celebration) on January 29 during the last session of each camp.
Thank you for your understanding of this decision to provide prayerful and practical vigilance in keeping us all as safe as possible.
Update January 5, 2022
Happy New Year! I pray this new year has been happy and healthy for you and your family – and COVID-free!!
Our foremost concern is the health and welfare (both spiritual and physical) of our families and children. Although we love and support the positive components of CROSSOVER, it pales in comparison to the importance of keeping our kids in school and our parents at work. God cares for you and so do we!
As you all have read and heard, we are in the midst of another COVID spike, infecting a higher number of children. According to Dr. Aragón, the Director of the California Department of Public Health, “Vigilance is our best defense against another challenging COVID-19 winter.” With this in mind, the CROSSOVER leadership team has prayed, discussed and decided to CANCEL this Saturday’s camp – January 8, 2022.

Update September 3, 2021
The Crossover Leadership Team has been prayerfully and creatively considering aspects of this season. Due to the various unique issues caused by the COVID pandemic protocols, we have decided to host a Crossover Basketball Camp instead of our normal format.
The Crossover Leadership Team has considered the challenges of this season and desires to have the best and safest time for all. Listed below are some of the reasons we have moved to a camp format:
- Centralizes practice times, devotions, and coach resources giving us more effective time together
- Facilitates health screening protocols to be monitored more consistently
- Provides for better resource utilization relative to lower registration numbers caused by the pandemic
What would this look like for you?

The Crossover Leadership Team appreciates your understanding in this format change as we endeavor to maximize the resources that are available during this unprecedented time.
Crossover FAQs
Crossover Youth Basketball started in 1987 uniting the young basketball players in our community with one another, caring coaches, and the local church. This is a recreational ministry – which is also one of the largest youth organizations partnering with the NBA’s Junior Warriors program and Redwood Christian Schools. Our program is designed to provide a fun and safe activity for the youth in our community.
The goal of Crossover is to create healthy competition and build biblical character within its participants. Each participant will receive a uniform and a player devotional booklet with weekly “Crossoverse” Bible verses to study and memorize. This co-ed ministry runs from November through mid-February. It is an opportunity for boys and girls to learn about God, have fun, play basketball, and demonstrate teamwork skills. One hour practices are held once per week (beginning in November) and games are only played on Saturdays (beginning in December).
Our name, Crossover, has a special meaning. It is an important and basic basketball move, which involves a change of direction, from one side to the other. It also reminds us that spiritually we can “cross-over” from death to life through the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
