Clare Loux Takes Over as New Head Coach for RCHS Varsity Softball
Not only did Clare play a select level of club and travel softball from a young age, she led her high school team to earn an NCS Championship. While she thrived on her travel teams, Clare shares that she had more fun playing for her high school. She will especially bring a lot to the program in developing pitchers, being a record-holding pitcher herself. “Clare is the perfect coach to keep balanced perspective for the girls, and she knows what needs to go into coaching for high-level competition in high school,” says Jim Cleveland, RCS Athletic Director.
From her years as a softball pitcher at RCS, Clare currently holds overall career records for most games won, lowest earned-run average, most total strikeouts, and most no-hitters in a season. Furthermore, Clare has the third highest career fielding percentage. She was on the 3-time Bay Counties League-East (BCL-E) league championship and North Coast Section championship teams.
Clare shares, “After five years, I am thrilled to be back at Redwood and back on the softball field, this time as a coach. The majority of our team this year is brand new to the sport, but I am so encouraged by the progress they have made in only the first few weeks. I am so excited to see how they will continue to grow as players and as people throughout this season.”
