The students met in the library where Dr. Ross shared about both starting a business and serving in the community. Dr. Ross founded a non-profit legal clinic in Castro Valley. She has taught at the university level, spoken to high school students, and performed family law, estate planning, immigration law, and landlord/tenant law.
Learning about starting a business in First Grade? “Dr. Ross spoke about being an attorney and about her non-profit. Most of all, she helps people. Kids wore costumes and did a mock trial dressed as Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman. It gave students a taste of what a lawyer is, what a lawyer does, and how lawyers help their community,” reports Mrs. Garcia, Redwood Christian Elementary Librarian. “You don’t just choose a career; you are looking to use your education to serve God.” Students were then encouraged to check out books on careers to take home.
