What is/are your role(s) at Redwood Christian Schools?

I am a teacher and a coach. I teach Algebra 2/Trig, Digital Marketing, and P.E. and coach Middle School and Varsity Softball.

What do you love about your role at RCS?

I love that at RCS I can use my gifts and passions to inspire the next generation. There are many correlations between the classroom and the sports field, and at RCS I can be a part of both.

What motivated you to serve at RCS?

God called me to RCS in a way I could not avoid.  I offered to “just help” coach, but one day a week turned into five which turned into a total career change.  I knew from the interactions I was having with athletes and teachers (as a coach) that RCS was the place I wanted to work and, then later, the place I wanted my own children to go to school.

What sets RCS students apart from students in other schools?

RCS students have a greater opportunity to build meaningful relationships than at other schools. Best said by John C. Maxwell, "Nothing of significance was ever achieved by an individual acting alone." Not just smaller class sizes, but the culture at RCS fosters positive, encouraging relationships.

The RCS tagline is “INSPRING FUTURES”. How does RCS as a school inspire futures?

Inspiring futures describes how all who serve at RCS seek to not only do their job to teach, supervise, and/or coach students, but to encourage and motivate them to reach their potential. This is even more enhanced by the Biblical worldview that inspires students to recognize and aspire to God's unique calling on his/her life.

What do you want students to gain from having known you?

I want students see that the light of Christ is in me and fuels all that I do. Furthermore, we glorify God in our actions whether they be in the classroom, in competition, in relationships, etcetera, and we can inspire others to know Him in our actions as well.

What Scripture motivates you in your role at RCS?

James 1 is motivating and comforting. In it, James writes about both the testing of our faith: "Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness" (v. 2-3), and about hearing and doing the Word: "But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves" (v.22).
