How did God call you into teaching, and/or what are your professional credentials (or prior work experience)?

I was called into Christian ministry as a teenager. The influence of my youth pastor and coaches inspired me to want to work with young people through athletics in order to help prepare them to face life with a solid foundation through the experiences and challenges they face in team settings.

What motivated you to become a teacher at Redwood Christian?

I have always admired the RCS athletic program and the emphasis placed on building strong teams that compete well while not sacrificing the values of our faith.

Tell us about your family and how they are looking forward to this new opportunity.

My wife Jennifer and I have been married for 34 years. We have 3 daughters and 6 grandchildren. We are so grateful for the opportunity to serve the families of RCS through the athletic program.

What is a unique experience, talent or interest that you bring to your classroom to help shape the learning experience of your students?

I have over 25 years of combined experience in Christian/Private schools through teaching, coaching and athletics administration. The variety of experience allows me to see the various perspectives that are brought to a team and program by each individual, which helps lead to positive results and experiences.

Do you have any other hobbies/interests outside of teaching?

Spending time with my wife and family. I have announced basketball games on the radio. Sprint car racing.

Our tagline is “Inspiring Futures.” How will a time you’ve been inspired shaped your teaching?

My high school basketball coach was one of my greatest influences growing up. His impact on my life led me to change the direction my life was headed. He taught me discipline and focus and helped instill Christian principles in my life which changed the focus away from a destructive path of life toward one of service for Christ through athletics. It has always been important to me to give back and hopefully influence others in the same way. Galatians 6:9-10 is my life verse.
