How did God call you into teaching, and/or what are your professional credentials (or prior work experience)?

I first discovered my teaching gift in high school and began teaching in different church and ministry settings. I was privileged to teach high school Bible at Fremont Christian School for a short time in 2023-24.

What motivated you to become a teacher at Redwood Christian?

While I regularly find different teaching outlets, I have missed the high school classroom! High school - and 11th grade in particular - was an important developmental season of my life. I'm excited for the opportunity to invest in students during these formative years.

Tell us about your family and how they are looking forward to this new opportunity.

I'm married with two kiddos at home. Despite our busy season of life, my wife has been particularly excited that I have been offered this role and has championed my return back to the classroom.

What is a unique experience, talent or interest that you bring to your classroom to help shape the learning experience of your students?

My love for teaching is wed to my love for learning. I value creating a safe space for ideas to be explored and expressed and examined together.

Do you have any other hobbies/interests outside of teaching?

I love to read! Outside of that, I enjoy spending time with my family and investing time with church members. In a former life, I enjoyed playing basketball and writing rap music.

Our tagline is “Inspiring Futures.” How will a time you’ve been inspired shaped your teaching?

I've been particularly surprised and inspired by leaders who are willing to admit fault, weakness or ignorance. I think it's important for leaders to be real people. I hope that showing my metaphorical scars and wrinkles and bald spots (I'd never admit to actually balding!) will give students the freedom to admit and be comfortable with their own shortcomings along the way.
