How did God call you into teaching, and/or what are your professional credentials (or prior work experience)?

I was working in the education field after I graduated college in 2007. I was ministering as a youth pastor at the time, and decided to work in education as well. I worked as a preschool teacher, Montessori elementary English/History teacher, and a middle school tutor. I also operated as a YMCA coach/tutor.

What motivated you to become a teacher at Redwood Christian?

In 2014, I went into law enforcement, and attending the academy to become a correctional peace officer. I worked as an officer with the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation for 7 years. I then transferred to the Department of Consumer Affairs to be an Inspector for the State Board. After 10 years in working with the government, I felt a calling to go back into education. God open the door, and I stepped right into Redwood Christian.

Tell us about your family and how they are looking forward to this new opportunity.

My daughter has been going to RCS since 3rd grade. She will be in 7th the 2024-2025 school year. My wife Shana has worked at RCS as an aid/tutor/substitute. They are excited for me that I am going back into education, and that my daughter can see me school.

What is a unique experience, talent or interest that you bring to your classroom to help shape the learning experience of your students?

I have had a youtube channel since 2019. I travel for food, and have been to many places to film, and food vlog. I can impart character, and story to students seeking to learn how to create, or strategize for engagement.

Do you have any other hobbies/interests outside of teaching?

I love to travel for food, and film it. I also love pickleball, and I plan to participate in professional tournaments.

Our tagline is “Inspiring Futures.” How will a time you’ve been inspired shaped your teaching?

I use to be afraid of public speaking, but I faced my fear, enrolled in a public speaking class, had a great teacher who taught it well, and decided to major in communications. I punched fear in the face, and became a person who took on positions as a youth pastor preaching God's word to students, at youth camps, and now as a youtube film maker, and vlogger.
