What is/are your role(s) at Redwood Christian Schools?

I teach Kindergarten.

What do you love about your role(s) at RCS?

Kindergarten has my heart! I love to engage curious minds and watch eyes light up when a discovery is made. One of my greatest joys is watching students put their letter sounds together to make a word and then build on that skill to read a book for the first time. My classroom is a place where we can create, discover, and grow.

What sets RCS students apart from students in other schools?

Coming from a career in the public schools, at Redwood I see a desire for the kids to grow spiritually and to care for one another as God has instructed. We learn Bible verses and discover stories from the Bible and get to apply them in our classroom! It is a precious sight to see God’s children discover that they are wonderfully made and God’s most precious creation. 

How do you inspire your students?

Many students start their journey at Redwood in our classroom. I desire for them to gain a love of learning as a foundation for the years of education ahead. As they grow in our classroom, I can see the future engineers in our block station, future nurses that care for their classmates with skinned knees, and the future CEO’s that lead their small groups well. 

What do you want your students to gain from having known you?

I want the students to know that they are wonderfully made and are filled with the gifts that God has given them. They are special and loved. 

What is your favorite verse?

Psalm 139:14 “I praise you, because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.”
