What is/are your role(s) at Redwood Christian Schools?
I teach Chemistry, Honors Chemistry, AP Physics, and Exploring STEM.
What do you love about Redwood Christian Schools?
I love that it is a God-honoring, academically competitive school. I love that it is a loving environment for the students and that we can worship and disciple within our academic environment.
Why do you like teaching at RCS?
I like teaching at Redwood because I can touch students’ hearts as well as their minds. I can reveal to them the discovery of God’s creation through the study of the chemicals He used to create it. I came to teach at Redwood because it was where I wanted my own children to attend.
What is a unique experience, talent or interest that you bring to shape the overall experience of students at RCS?
Having gone to graduate school and experiencing a short career in pharmaceutical discovery, I have a better perspective on the types of skills that are necessary to succeed in scientific careers. I can teach to develop those skills in addition to covering required content.
What sets RCS students apart from students in other schools?
RCS students are amazing. They are respectful and thankful for the lessons they receive. I love hearing “thank you” when they leave the class every day. I don’t think all students do that.
The RCS tagline is “the education you TRUST for the children you LOVE.” How do you accomplish this in your role at RCS?
I strive to teach chemistry in way that is academically and spiritually preparing students to thrive not only in chemistry but in all areas of their education. I also develop relationships with the students so that they feel Christ’s love through me.
What do you want students to gain from having known you?
I want my students to gain the knowledge of God through scientific study. I want them to understand that you can glorify God in a scientific career, and that the joy of discovery is a God-given pleasure.
What is your favorite verse?
1 Peter 4:8 “Above all, keep loving one another earnestly, since love covers a multitude of sins. Show hospitality to one another without grumbling.”
