What is/are your role(s) at Redwood Christian Schools?
I teach AP World History, World History, Economics, and Understanding the Times (UTT).
What do you love about Redwood Christian Schools?
My family and I love the RCS community. As a result, we have been parents of RCS students for 15 years. I love that I get to know the students here at RCS and that I get to teach them subjects that I care about!
Why do you like teaching at RCS?
At first, I loved Redwood Christian Schools as a parent. In time, I began to realize that teaching was something the Lord was calling me to do and I cannot think of any school I would rather teach at than Redwood.
What is a unique experience, talent or interest that you bring to shape the overall experience of students at RCS?
I love to make history and economics relevant to my students in their daily lives to “personalize” their education. I strive to do this daily by looking at the material from their point of view, talking about related subjects in the news or posing questions to them that I wanted answered when I was their age.
What sets RCS students apart from students in other schools?
A biblically-based education cannot be overestimated! Students at RCS know that they are made in the image of God, just like everyone else, and are inspired to treat their teachers and each other with respect as a result.
The RCS tagline is “INSPIRING FUTURES.” How do you accomplish this in your role at RCS?
“The world is passing away, along with its desires; but whoever does the will of God remains forever” – John 1:17 (ESV)
What do you want students to gain from having known you?
First and foremost I want them to remember that I cared about them. Secondly, I would like to help them develop wisdom, knowledge, critical thinking skills and strong work ethic to prepare them for success in adulthood!
What is your favorite verse?
“All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work”— 2 Timothy 3:16-17 (ESV)
