2022 RCS Scholarship Recipients

On Tuesday, May 24th, Superintendent Dr. Al Hearne announced the recipients of the 2022 RCS Scholarships at the Middle School and High School End of Year Awards Ceremony.  Congratulations to these college-bound seniors!

Jaycie Mae Huemoeller Memorial Scholarship
A graduating senior who has overcome significant social, emotional or academic challenges, is graduating in good standing, and is enrolled and attending a community college, four year university, or other verified continuing education/trade school is eligible to receive this scholarship.  It will award $500 annually out of the established fund upon proof of enrollment and attendance.Recipient: A’Kaia Phelps

 

Paul Dale Sharp Memorial-Proverbs 16:9 Scholarship
On April 23, 2003, Paul Dale Sharp, a senior at Redwood Christian High School, died as the result of a hiking accident in Yosemite, and went to be with his Lord Jesus. Paul’s family and friends established this scholarship to honor him through awarding a $500 scholarship to a deserving graduate who is going either directly onto the mission field under the authority of a mission board/sponsoring church or to college.  Additional criteria for selection includes perseverance in the classroom, a positive attitude, a solid Christian testimony, and good conduct.Recipient: Grazia Vaughan

 

Lin Family Scholarship
The Lin Family Scholarship is awarded to one Redwood Christian graduating senior who has shown special concerns for the disabled, needy, elderly, and who shows compassion to others who are in need.   Additional criteria for selection includes perseverance in the classroom, a positive attitude, a solid Christian testimony, and good conduct.Recipient: Ethan King

 

Nelson S. Birchacek Memorial Scholarship
On  August 7,1999, Nelson S. Brichacek, father of 1998 RCHS graduate Eugene, went to be with his Lord.  During his four years at RCHS, Eugene was a student in the Academic Assistance program.  Nelson’s wife, Anne, has chosen to establish a scholarship fund to honor the memory of her husband through rewarding annually a deserving graduate from the RCHS Academic Assistance program.  A scholarship of $500 will be awarded.Recipient:  Catherine Ignacio Maldonado

 

Peter Branson Memorial Scholarship
Peter graduated from RCS in 1978 and was attending BIOLA when he was killed in a boating accident in August 1979.  His family, school and friends established this scholarship to award $500 to graduating senior.  To be eligible, a graduate must: 1) be going to a Christian college or university; 2) have a financial need; 3) be involved in athletics while at RCS; and 4) display outstanding character in all areas of their lives.Recipient:  Abigail Castaneda
