On Thursday, May 21st, Superintendent Dr. Al Hearne announced the recipients of the 2020 RCS Scholarships.
Pastor Sherman Addison Williams II Memorial Scholarship
Pastor Sherman Addison Williams II, founding pastor of Redwood Christian Schools, went to Heaven on March 6, 2008, three days before his 90th birthday. The Pastor Sherman Williams Memorial Scholarship provides a $1000 scholarship to a graduating senior. The candidate must attend a Christian college in preparation for ministry in full-time Christian education or the pastorate. A record of Christian service at RCS and the student’s church, consistent evidence of the Fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22,23), a heart for ministry, and outstanding conduct is required.

Paul Dale Sharp Memorial-Proverbs 16:9 Scholarship
On April 23, 2003, Paul Dale Sharp, a senior at Redwood Christian High School, died as the result of a hiking accident in Yosemite, and went to be with his Lord Jesus. Paul’s family and friends established this scholarship to honor his through awarding a $500 scholarship to a deserving graduate who is going either directly onto the mission field under the authority of a mission board/sponsoring church or to college. Additional criteria for selection includes perseverance in the classroom, a positive attitude, a solid Christian testimony, and good conduct.

Peter Branson Memorial Scholarship
Peter graduated from RCS in 1978 and was attending BIOLA when he was killed in a boating accident in August 1979. His family, school and friends established this scholarship to award $500 to graduating senior. To be eligible, a graudatue must: 1) be going to a Christian college or university; 2) have a financial need; 3) be involved in athletics while at RCS; and 4) display outstanding character in all areas of their lives.

Lin Family Scholarship
The Lin Family Scholarship is awarded to one Redwood Christian graduating senior who has shown special concerns for the disabled, needy, elderly, and who shows compassion to others who are in need. Additional criteria for selection includes perseverance in the classroom, a positive attitude, a solid Christian testimony, and good conduct.
Recipient: Daniel Barquero
Step Up Scholarship
The $2,000 “Step UP Scholarship” is funded by anonymous donor, for up to four concurrent semesters ($500 per semester). It is awarded to a RCS student who: 1) Needs financial help; 2) Whose parents have not graduated from college; 3) Shows great potential for success in college; 4) Has been involved with leadership activities at RCS and in the community; and 5) Who would be motivated by this award to attend a college or university. The recipient must show satisfactory progress in college for semesters 2, 3, and 4 to be awarded by sending his/her report card to RCS.
Recipient: Zayna Azraei
Jaycie Mae Huemoeller Memorial Scholarship
A graduating senior who has overcome significant social, emotional or academic challenges, is graduating in good standing, and is enrolled and attending a community college, four year university, or other verified continuing education/trade school is eligible to receive this scholarship. It will award $500 annually out of the established fund upon proof of enrollment and attendance.
