Devotional Thought:

“Love does no wrong to a neighbor; therefore love is the fulfilling of the law” (Romans 13:10). To truly love others the way God desires, we have to first love God. Only then can we love others. By loving God and then loving others, the law is kept to its fullness.

People are unlovable. We are full of sin and darkness. We disappoint, hurt, and betray each other, but we are called to still love one another. We are to bless those who persecute us (Romans 12:14), pray for our enemies (Matthew 5:44), and give our enemies food and drink (Romans 12:20). Love is to be a way of life, a lifestyle, a natural part of who we are. Love and like are not the same. There are people we just don’t like, but we are to love even those we don’t like. The unlikable are to be loved, but this only becomes possible when we are first loving God.

“Fabulous Five” As Reported By RCS Teachers:

  1. Mrs. Marcus reports, “1M is writing a descriptive paragraph. The kids brought their favorite stuffed animal. We filled out a graphic organizer to describe our stuffed animals in great detail.”
  2. Mr. Russell reports, “The senior class has been having great discussions about the Biblical model of dating and marriage.”
  3. Miss Orluck reports, “I had my students write a letter to a classmate who broke her arm and needs surgery. I praise God for the love and concern that they expressed towards her in their letters.”
  4. Mr. Hendren reports, “We are taking a more artistic bent on WWII in my 7th period world history class and they are creating a collage of WWII which has to tell a story of WWII. The causes, effects and events. It has been a good combination for a class that is bent more toward being artistic.”
  5. Mr. Wilcox reports, “Last week my chemistry students examined decomposition reactions by mixing different chemicals caps to see what type of precipitate formed.”
