Devotional Thought:

Our focus for January is to love God with all of our mind. Romans 12:2 reads, “Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.” As believers we are to undergo a complete and total transformation of our lives, from selforientation to God-orientation and this transformation begins with the renewal of our mind. Renewing our mind means a new way of thinking, centered upon God and His commands, a mind that is focused upon what God wants His people to be and do rather than what the world says a person should be and do. Two important daily rituals to help us renew our mind are prayer and Bible reading. Let me encourage you to set aside time each day for your family to read the Bible and pray together.

“Fabulous Five” As Reported By RCS Teachers:

  1. Mr. Burke reported on 2016.11.14: My students made amazing SAT vocab skits using the words cryptic, anecdote, and resonance.
  2. Mr. Gillette reported on 2016.11.14: Character development is right at the core of what we do at RCS. This week a student encouraged me by coming up to point out an error in grading that unfairly gave her too high of a mark. Her willingness to do what was right despite the consequence to her encouraged my soul and spoke volumes about her’s.
  3. Mrs. Suth reported on 2016.10.24: We have a student on crutches in 8th grade. Wonderful to see other students quickly come to her aid to carry her books and backpacks.
  4. Mr. Anderson reported on 2016.09.26: We’re studying animals in Science, and the students are bringing in books about the creature of their choice. You could feel their excitement and interest. Great to see such enthusiasm for learning.
  5. Miss Masin reported on 2016.12.05: KM and KB came up with something to be thankful for using the ABC’s. We got all 26 letters, everything from Bible to mommy, summer to zebra and everything in between!

Matthew 6:9-13 – The Lord’s Prayer
“9 Pray then like this: “Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name. 10 Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. 11 Give us this day our daily bread, 12 and forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. 13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.”
