Devotional Thought:

Psalm 119 (the longest Psalm in the Bible) is themed around the concept of the extreme value of the Word of God in our lives. It’s easy to give lip service to our love for God. However, the Psalmist in this chapter reminds us that loving God involves being consumed with, following after, learning more, and obeying the Law (Word) of God. Do we love to follow after God’s laws (statutes, decrees, testimonies) or do we look at them as a list of condemning commands? Once we realize that God’s law is a personal love letter that is designed to give us hope and joy, then our perspective changes. By living out the Word of God in our lives we have the opportunity for Christ’s love to shine through us to friends, family and strangers that cross our path.

Parents, my three resources this week focus on digital safety. They were chosen because of a deadly new game I have been reading about, which according to the news, some teenagers in the United States are beginning to play, “The Blue Whale Challenge.” This is a dangerous game which may have led to teenagers committing suicide. Our students’ mental health is of great importance and we should all be equipped to help them remain mentally healthy and safe. If the news reports are true, the app encourages students to start a 50-day campaign of self-harm and end with suicide. After doing your own research, sit down and discuss online safety with your kids.
