On Tuesday, October 3, two special guests visited Mrs. Sanchez and Mrs. Phillip’s Spanish classes. Officer Robert DeLeon, SFPD, and Rocky, an explosive detection certified (EDC) dog, visited and interacted with both middle school and high school Spanish class students.
Officer DeLeon works at San Francisco International Airport. Rocky joins him to aid in emergency situations where a potential explosive is involved. Officer DeLeon talked about how speaking a second language not only sets you apart from other job applicants, you also have the potential to earn a higher starting salary. In a service position like his, speaking a second language also enables him to help more people and serve his community in more ways.
