On Sunday, March 16, Miss Kayla Schelling, a 2012 graduate of Redwood Christian High School, was selected Miss Golden State. She will be competing in the Miss California Pageant in June. Kayla is a sophomore at the University of San Francisco, where she is studying Graphic/Web Design. She is a University Scholar and on the Dean’s Honor Roll.

Kayla is employed on campus as a marketing assistant for the office of Student Leadership and Engagement. In memory of her dad, she’s been involved with Relay For Life, a 24-hour fundraising event benefiting the American Cancer Society. In fact, this year, she is leading the University of San Francisco’s entire event as the Event Chair! Their event will take place on April 26-27, 2014. Last year, the entire campus raised about $20,000. This year, she plans to shatter that goal by raising at least $21,500, including her goal of $1000.01. You can read her story, check her progress, and, if it’s in your heart, donate, at http://main.acsevents.org/. All contributions – small and large – mean so much to her as it affects the success of our entire event.

Her RCS family is so very proud of her . . . she is making a difference for Jesus wherever she goes and whatever she does!
