High School Academic Requirements

In order to graduate from Redwood Christian Schools, a student must meet certain subject matter requirements by earning a minimum of 240 units and have a cumulative GPA of at least 2.0.


SUBJECT REQUIREMENTS

A student can earn 10 units per class each year (5 units per semester).

30 Social Science
20 Science
20 Physical Education
5 Understanding the Times
2.5 Speech
2.5 Computer Literacy
60 Electives
240 Total Units required for Graduation











SCHOLASTIC REQUIREMENTS

In addition to the above subject requirements, students must earn 240 credits and earn a minimum GPA of 2.0.  Any student earning less than a cumulative GPA of 2.0 will receive a Certificate of Completion instead of a diploma (if all subject requirements have been met).  Students earning a semester GPA less than 2.0 will be placed on academic probation.  To be taken off the probation list a GPA of at least 2.0 must be earned.  Students who are on both academic and behavior probation will be dropped from RCS within a semester if they remain on probation.

High school students are given a couple of electives each year to either fulfill college entrance requirements or to puruse personal interests.

(1) It is recommended that college-bound students begin taking foreign language their freshman year.  return
(2) There are four electives in the Junior year.  This is time to take a third year of language, a third year of math, a second year of science, and other courses students have not yet been able to take.  If the visual or performing art requirement for college has not yet been met, it should be taken care of now.  Bible III may be replaced with Christian Ministry.  return
(3) Bible IV is made up of two parts: Apologetics & Ethics and Senior Seminar.  In addition, Bible IV may be replaced with Christian Ministry.  return
