You may hear the day care service at Redwood Christian Schools referred to by two different names: Extended-day CARE (EDC) or Extended CARE Ministries (ECM). Both refer to the same excellent program that cares for children before and after school at RCS! To sign up, please contact Mrs. Sue Abbott, Director of Extended CARE Ministries, at 510-537-8734.
THE PURPOSE OF EXTENDED CARE MINISTRIES
1. To provide a safe and secure environment for
elementary and junior high students attending Redwood
Christian Schools in a before- and after-school program
and all day during summer vacation and holidays.
2. To provide enrichment to the biblical studies taught in the regular
classroom.
3. To give parents the maximum flexibility in scheduling their use of
Extended-day CARE (EDC).
4. To assist parents in providing social interaction, community
experiences and enjoyable opportunities for their children.
5. To provide the child with instructional enrichment during the summer
months.
SCHOOL-DAY EXTENDED CARE
BEFORE-SCHOOL PROGRAMS

friends, etc.

SUMMER EXTENDED CARE
Children entering grades 1-8 who have been fully accepted to attend
Redwood Christian Schools in the fall
are eligible to participate in the summer EDC program.
ENRICHMENT COMPONENT
The goal of the summer enrichment component is to supplement and expand
topics studied during the school year. This is accomplished through
providing up to
three hours of daily enrichment instruction which is
structured to the age level of the child. Topics may
include, but are not limited to, Bible, science, health,
arts and crafts, language, personal reading, and computers.
FIELD TRIP COMPONENT
Weekly field trips, such as swimming, parks and
museums, help fill the days with fun activities. Transportation for
field trips will usually be provided by school
bus when the destinations are beyond walking distance.
SUPPLEMENTAL ACTIVITIES
Redwood Christian Schools may offer other summer activities such as Day
Camp or Sports Camps. Contact one of the elementary campus offices for
further information regarding the availability of these activities.
REDWOOD CHAPEL V.B.S.
All students attending EDC during the last two weeks of June will be
enrolled in Redwood Chapel Community Church's Vacation Bible School
(V.B.S.) from 8:45 A.M. to 12:30 P.M. ECM will provide care before and
after the
V.B.S. program.
