New Principals Named to CCS and JHSH for 2008-09

After 18 years of service at Redwood Christian Schools, the last seven years as our junior high-senior high principal, and almost forty years in Christian education, Mr. John Bakker announced his retirement yesterday at the Faculty-Staff-Board Christmas Fellowship, effective June 30, 2008. His tender heart and commitment to always being available to help anyone at anytime will be missed. He has left open the possibility of remaining on staff in another position. Earlier this year at our Annual Dinner, I announced the retirement of Mr. Butch Monk from RCS, where he has served for the last thirty-six years, thirty-two of them as principal of our Crossroads Christian School campus.

The RCS School Board has accepted the staff recommendation and named Mr. Mike Kady to become the new principal at Crossroads Christian School and Mr. Al Hearne to become principal at Redwood Christian Junior-Senior High. Both of these appointments are effective July 1, 2008.

Although we will miss both Mr. Bakker and Mr. Monk, we are so thankful for God’s provision of their successors–godly leaders well known to the RCS family.

Take care, God Bless and have a GREAT Christmas season!

Michael J. Kady has been at RCS since 1984 serving as JH math teacher, JH activities coordinator, and as the Redwood Christian Elementary assistant principal since 1996. He is probably best known as Jog Man, Jr. and the producer of our annual dinner video. He has been married to Joan for fifteen years. The Kadys have two daughters, Sarah, 8th grade, and Lisa, 5th grade. Mr. Kady has his bachelor’s degree in math, with a minor in Bible. He holds a master’s degree in Christian school administration from Washington Baptist Teachers College and an ACSI Professional Secondary Teachers Certificate.

Albert L. Hearne has been at RCS since 2002 as a teacher at our junior-senior high campus (English, math and Bible). He co-leads the senior high missions team and he helps direct the junior high social program called BAAM. He is recognized as one of the primary leaders in technology at RCS, spearheading our recent adoption of RenWeb. He has been married for seven years to Megan, who also teaches on the junior high-senior high campus (English and drama). Mr. Hearne has his bachelor’s degree in General Ministries & Social Science from Bethany Bible College, and a Master of Divinity degree from Fuller Theological Seminary. He also holds an ACSI Standard Secondary Teachers Certificate.
